Porter! According to SBC owner/head brewer Ken Mee, this style originated in the mid-1800's in England. It was made to serve as a "go between" between pale ales, which are refreshing but light, and dark beers, which are heavy. Thus the Porter serves as a thirst-quenching treat but also with some substance. It has malty, chocolaty, roasted flavors. Come in and try a pint today, and if Marenda is working behind the bar, she might even tell you how she helped brew this batch!
